Goupil
A fox portrait in straw marquetry. The coat is suggested through the direction of the strands, which catch the light much like real fur. Tawny and amber tones alternate with deeper shades, giving relief and character to the gaze. *Goupil* is the Old French word for fox, made famous by the *Roman de Renart*. The title is a nod both to the animal’s cunning and to the precision required by the marquetry technique. MDF panel and bespoke MDF frame.

La Madone
She does not lower her gaze; she closes her eyes. Warm tones — ochre, amber and deep orange — evoke earth, roots and strength. This Madonna is not religious but universal, embodying womanhood in its most dignified form. MDF panel and bespoke MDF frame.
